Soup and Salad vs. Fast Food Sandwich

On our way home from the library, my husband, Paul, and I stopped at Quicksands Café and Bakery for lunch. I was immediately struck by the pleasant atmosphere of the café. Fresh bread, desserts, and a mouth-watering assortment of soups and salads are on display. I would enjoy spending many quiet afternoons in this café.

Paul and I both ordered the $5 soup and salad combo. Quicksands had 6 soups to choose from—4 hot, 2 cold—and several salads. I had a vegetarian tomato basil soup and a green salad with fruit and jicama. We spent a little extra for the iced raspberry tea. The food was incredibly flavorful and filling.

The entire time I was eating, I kept thinking of the fast food Paul and I had had the week before. Even with the raspberry teas and tip, Quicksands$5 meal was cheaper than the fast food chicken sandwich combos we’d had. The soup and salad was tastier than the fast food and so much healthier.

Next time I feel a fast food craving, I’ll think about Quicksands instead. Happy Dining!
